Monthly 2018 Vol. 2 Catalog Premier Spotlight

August 22, 2018 - Each month throughout the year, M.T.H. will be spotlighting various items from our 2018 O Gauge Volume 2 catalog.  This month's feature will focus on the Premier O Scale EMD SD40-2 Diesel Locomotives; Fairbanks Morse Train Master Diesel Locomotives; and select Premier Freight Cars including the O Scale Coalporter Hopper; 50' High Cube Box Car; and the Rapid Discharge Hopper Car.  Each of these items is currently slated to begin delivering in October 2018.

EMD SD40-2 Diesel - Offering better reliability and lower maintenance costs than the higher powered SD-45, EMD’s SD40-2 enjoyed a long production run of 3,100 units. The 3,000 horsepower diesel was the primary motive power for many railroads throughout the 1970’s and 80’s.           continue reading

Lionel Corporation O Gauge 263E Tinplate Locomotives Released

August 22, 2018 - M.T.H. Electric Trains has released a Lionel Corporation Tinplate O Gauge 263E steam locomotive passenger set in stunning Norfolk & Western livery available for immediate delivery from any M.T.H. Authorized Retailer or directly from the M.T.H. Online Store

Cataloged from 1936-1939, the O gauge 263E steamer was part of the last hurrah of tinplate — Lionel’s final attempt to convince the boys of America that real steam engines had chrome-plated domes, smokestacks, and piping. The 263E was the successor to — and looked very much like — Lionel’s first O gauge steamer, the 260E introduced in 1930 with great fanfare: "Boys — here is the most remarkable "O" Gauge Steam Type Locomotive that has ever been produced. Dozens of blueprints and photographs of famous new locomotives from railroads all over the country were examined, and the best features of each were utilized by Lionel’s Engineering Department in designing this locomotive. It represents a miracle of model railroad engineering."
