Uncataloged Limited Edition RailKing SW-1 Diesel Locomotives Announced

January 20, 2021 - M.T.H. Electric Trains has announced special limited-edition releases of the RailKing SW-1 Diesel Locomotive in six different liveries. These unique releases are part of a series of products representing the last M.T.H. production runs as the company concludes its 40-year history this Spring.

The birth of the SW1 in January 1939 was a historic moment for the Electro-Motive Corporation. The tiny switcher ("S" for six hundred horsepower, "W" for welded frame) was EMC's first truly mass-produced loco, the first with Electro-Motive's own electrical gear, and the first mass-produced engine powered by the 567 diesel motor - which would become the backbone of first-generation American diesel power. Popular with railroads large and small, the SW1 stayed in production for 15 years, and many remained in service for three or more decades.

Our RailKing Scale SW1 offers Premier level details at a RailKing price. Separately added metal detail parts include front, side, and rear handrails; bell and horn; grab irons to allow access to the top of the hood, and handles for the sandbox lid on the front pilot (which doubled as a convenient seat for yard brakemen). Built to full 1/48 scale proportions, this model also offers authentic, legible EMD builder's plates and directionally operating front and rear headlights. Single or dual exhaust stacks, per individual prototypes, are also featured.

January 20, 2021 - M.T.H. Electric Trains will be releasing a series of 2021 Christmas items from our RailKing O Gauge lineup later this Spring and Summer as part of the last M.T.H. production runs as the company concludes its 40-year history. If you've been a fan of our Christmas-themed cars over the past eleven years, then these items are the perfect way to expand your collection or start your very own holiday train garden. 2021 Christmas releases include two RailKing O Gauge ES44 Diesel/Caboose Sets and a variety of add-on freight cars - some of which are already in-stock - sporting Santa and Traditional themes.

Live Manufacturer's Virtual Train Show Coming January 27

January 20, 2021 - M.T.H. Electric Trains will be participating in a live broadcast with M.T.H. Authorized Retailer Trainworld on their Facebook and Youtube channels on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at 6:00 PM EST. Trainworld has invited a slew of manufacturers to participate in this huge three-day event in place of the canceled Amherst Historical Society annual train show usually held in Springfield, Massachusetts. Participants include ESU, Soundtraxx, White River Productions, Model Railroader, LGB, PIKO, Bachmann, Rapido, Walthers, Atlas, Athearn, Broadway Limited, Lionel, and More! Tune in and get the skinny on the latest about current and upcoming M.T.H. releases.
