Uncataloged O Gauge RailKing Box Car Announced

December 23, 2024 - M.T.H. Electric Trains has announced an exclusive and uncataloged RailKing O Gauge Box Car in unique General Electric livery for exclusive distribution for M.T.H. Authorized Retailers E-Z Catch and Dixie Union Station. The cars will be available in extremely limited quantities beginning in February 2025.

ABOUT THE RAILKING O GAUGE BOX CAR

The 40’ steel box car so familiar to model railroaders was a product of the 1930s. Wood box cars, which were built into the World War I era, and early steel cars were largely non-standardized, with details varying from railroad to railroad. The move toward standardization began with American Railway Association (ARA) designs of 1923 and 1932. It culminated in the 1937 AAR boxcar, which was adopted by railroads from coast to coast and built in the tens of thousands. (The AAR (American Association of Railroads) was and still is the successor to the ARA.).

While the original paint schemes were usually drab variations on standard box car red, new schemes in the 1950s and later brought color back to the American freight train. Our models replicate many of the most fondly remembered paint schemes seen on these cars.

EXCLUSIVELY AVAILABLE THRU:

M.T.H. Electric Trains will release the 2025 RailKing O Gauge Airslide Hopper Cars in six unique liveries next Spring. These cars will be available as single cars and 3-car sets, each individually numbered. They will be limited in production and expected to begin shipping to M.T.H. Authorized Retailers in May 2025.

M.T.H. Electric Trains will be releasing the 2025 Premier O Scale F-7 Diesel Locomotive in five unique liveries next Spring. These locomotives will be available in powered A, non-powered A, and non-powered B Unit configurations allowing users to build consist configurations from a single A to an A-B-B-A set. Each item will be limited in production and expected to begin shipping to M.T.H. Authorized Retailers in May 2025.
