October 2015 Volume 2 Premier O Gauge Catalog Product SpotlightOctober 21, 2015 - Each month throughout the year, M.T.H. will be spotlighting various items from our 2015 O Gauge Volume 2 catalog. This week's feature will focus on select Premier O Scale offerings including the 2-8-8-8-2 Triplex Steam Engine, the 4-6-2 USRA Heavy Pacific steam locomotive, EMD GP38-2 diesel locomotive, EMD SD-35 diesel locomotive, SD70ACe diesel locomotive, and select Premier Line freight cars including the 2-Bay Offset Hopper Car and matching 6-car sets, 8000 Gallon tank car, and Flat Car with 48' Trailer. All of these items are currently slated to begin delivering in December 2015.

October 21, 2015 - October is cancer awareness month and at M.T.H. Electric Trains we're releasing a specially decorated, limited production RailKing O Gauge ES44 Diesel and matching Steel Caboose in stunning pink decor. Slated for delivery in mid-November, this unique set includes all the features you expect from an M.T.H. release including Proto-Sound 3.0, operating diesel exhaust smoke, Proto-Couplers, Proto-Speed Control and operating chase lights running along the base of the locomotive's body. The matching caboose includes die-cast metal couplers, lighted interior and a hand painted brakeman figure inside the cupola.
M.T.H. Electric Trains has long supported various charities throughout our 35 year history and from time-to-time we've released limited production runs of special locomotives and rolling stock to raise funds for those organizations. Our 911 locomotive and cars brought much needed assistance to the first responders' families after the tragic loss of life of their loved ones following the terrorist attacks. And, our Hurricane Katrina compilation helped the Red Cross manage the incredible devastation wreaked on the New Orleans area following the storm's landfall. The RailKing ES44 locomotive is a near-scale model measuring a full 17" in length, yet operates comfortably on O-31 curves. Under the hood is the very same Proto-Sound 3.0 sound and control package found in our more expensive Premier model of this locomotive, with sounds recorded from the actual prototype. Additional Imperial features include operating diesel exhaust smoke, flashing ditch lights and colorful charging lights running the length of the body. Controlled by the Proto-Sound 3.0 microprocessor, the lights automatically reverse direction upon a direction change. Their mesmerizing effect is quite impressive when running in a darkened room and is sure to excite all who see it run.

October 21, 2015 - M.T.H. Electric Trains has announced its 26th TCA York Show collector box car to be sold at the TCA York Show in York, Pennsylvania on October 22, 23, and 24, 2015. Like the previous 25 cars sold in the York Car series, the latest edition will again be a Premier Line model and the 24th in our "Catalog Series" - this time featuring the cover of our 2016 Volume 1 Premier & RailKing Catalog which will be released in October 2015. As in the past, a very limited number of these cars will be produced and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis for $40.00. MTHRRC Members attending the York show can purchase the car for $35.00. The car can be purchased at the M.T.H. booth in the Orange Hall. Interested, MTHRRC and non-MTHRRC Members can speed up the time spent waiting to pickup your car by pre-ordering it from the M.T.H. Sales Department. October 21, 2015 – M.T.H. Electric Trains has published it's first smartphone and tablet app for controlling a DCS layout wirelessly to the Apple iTunes and Google Play stores. Look for the apps to appear on those sites within the next week. First announced in 2014, the app will be available in three versions, the first two of which (a FREE version with control of 3 locomotives and limited features and a $4.99 STANDARD version with full locomotive control) will be the only versions available. The $24.99 PREMIUM version, which provides the user with full DCS control and more, will follow shortly thereafter. The apps, which will communicate with a separately sold DCS WiFi Interface Unit or WIU. The WIU is slated for release in late-November. Any Android tablet or phone and Apple iPhone or iPad will bring the DCS Digital Command System to life in a way never thought possible when first paired with a DCS remote control. Any of these smart devices can run the new apps. The DCS app will allow operators to control an entire layout in command or conventional modes without using a DCS handheld remote. A TIU (Track Interface Unit) along with the separately sold DCS WIU is required for app control over the layout. Simply plug the module into the TIU, search for its WiFi signal on the phone or tablet, and begin running a DCS layout in command mode in no time. App control also requires an update to the DCS Track Interface Unit (TIU) software. The new DCS software, version 5.00, should be available on the M.T.H. Website the week of October 25th. The DCS software release is a free download and will include a new DCS Loader program required to install DCS Version 5.0 into the TIU.

2016 Volume 1 O Gauge Catalog Released Online
October 21, 2015 - M.T.H. Electric Trains has published its 2016 Volume 1 O Gauge catalog to the M.T.H. website. The catalog can be viewed online by clicking the following links: M.T.H. mailing list subscribers and M.T.H. Railroaders Club members (MTHRRC) attending the 2015 Fall TCA York Meet in York, Pennsylvania train meet can avoid the wait for the U.S. Postal Service by picking up the 2016 Volume 1 Premier & RailKing catalog and a selection of other M.T.H. previously printed materials beginning Thursday at 12:00 noon. Other show attendees who wish to pickup our latest catalog can also do so at the show by subscribing to our mailing list. To simplify the pickup process for any of our catalogs at the show, we've included an online form that readers can print out and fill out prior to coming to the show. Bring the completed form and we will be able to process you faster through our catalog pickup line. The meeting will be in the Holiday Inn Holidome's restaurant/meeting facility. This location allows over 150 attendees to be comfortable during dinner and the presentations. Attendees can mingle with DCS power users, have their DCS software updated, enjoy a hot catered meal and listen to a brief presentation by M.T.H. executives on the state of DCS and new technology developments coming down the track.
