M.T.H. DCS Premium App Released To App Stores

April 19, 2017 – M.T.H. Electric Trains has released the DCS Premium version of its smartphone and tablet app for controlling a DCS layout wirelessly to the Apple App Store and Google Play store. The apps should be appearing in the stores today, April 18th. Current users of the FREE or STANDARD versions of the app will be able to obtain the Premier version via an in-app purchase. Users may have to manually update the app in order for the Premium in-app purchase link to appear.

First announced in 2014, the app is now available in three versions:

• a FREE version with control of 3 locomotives and limited features
• a $4.99 STANDARD version with full locomotive control
• The all-new $24.99 PREMIUM version, which provides the user with full DCS control

The apps communicate with a separately sold DCS WiFi Interface Unit (WIU). Any Android tablet or smartphone and Apple iPhone or iPad will bring the DCS Digital Command System to life in a way never thought possible when first paired with a DCS remote control. Any of these smart devices can run the new apps.

The DCS Premium App allows operators to control an entire layout in command or conventional modes without using a DCS handheld remote. A TIU (Track Interface Unit) along with the separately sold DCS WIU is required for app control over the layout. Simply plug the module into the TIU, search for its WiFi signal on the phone or tablet, and begin running a DCS layout in command mode in no time.

The PREMIUM App also requires an update to the software powering the DCS Track Interface Unit (TIU). The new DCS software (Version 6.00) is available on the M.T.H. Website via a FREE DOWNLOAD. In order to load the DCS Version 6.0 software into the TIU and Remote, users must use the FREE DCS Windows Loader program to install the software. Older versions of the DCS Loader Program will not work on the new DCS Version 6.0 software.

Monthly 2017 Vol. 1 Catalog Premier Spotlight

April 19, 2017 - Each month throughout the year, M.T.H. will be spotlighting various items from our 2017 O Gauge Volume 1 catalog.  This week's feature will focus on the Premier O Scale Electro Liner Passenger Train, EMD SD70M-2 Diesel Locomotive, Great Northern R-2 2-8-8-2 Steam Locomotive and select Premier Freight Cars including the O Scale Amtrak Mail Box Car, 36' Woodsided Reefer, 75' Depressed Center Flat Car with Crane Cab and Corrugated Auto Carrier.  Each of these items are currently slated to begin delivering in June 2017.

Spring 2017 Special TCA York Car Announced

April 5, 2017 - M.T.H. Electric Trains has announced its 29th TCA York Show collector box car to be sold at the TCA York Show in York, Pennsylvania on April 27, 28, and 29, 2017.

Like the previous 28 cars sold in the York Car series, the latest edition will again be a Premier Line model and the 27th in our "Catalog Series" - this time featuring the cover of our 2017 Volume 2 Premier & RailKing Catalog which will be released in April 2017.

As in the past, a very limited number of these cars will be produced and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis for $40.00. MTHRRC Members attending the York show can purchase the car for $35.00. The car can be purchased at the M.T.H. booth in the Orange Hall.

Interested, MTHRRC and non-MTHRRC Members can speed up the time spent waiting to pickup your car by pre-ordering it from the M.T.H. Sales Department. NOTE If ordering the car in advance, you MUST attend the York show and personally pick up your car. Cars will NOT BE SHIPPED to show attendees who fail to pick them up at York.

Update Your TIU For Free At The April TCA York Meet

April 19, 2017 - Visitors attending this month's 2017 Spring York Meet in York, Pennsylvania can get their TIU and Remote software updated to Version 6.0 for FREE in the M.T.H. booth.

NOTE: The update is required for users planning on using the DCS Premium App to run their model railroad.

Just bring your TIU and Remote to the booth and plan on picking it up before the show ends. One of our technicians will give you an estimate when you can pick it up - if needed - that day. You'll find full details about the York Show by going HERE.

If you can't make the show, anyone can update the DCS software with a Windows PC. To do so, you'll need to download the DCS Loader program from the M.T.H. website. To get the free loader program, go HERE. Once installed onto your PC, the program guides you through the update process in a step-by-step process. The download to the DCS Version 6.0 software can be found by going HERE.

23rd York DCS User Group Meeting

April 5, 2017 - Visitors attending this month's 2017 Spring York Meet in York, Pennsylvania can get an early start on meet activities by attending the 23rd York DCS User Group Meeting on Wednesday evening, April 26, 2017. The meeting will be in the Wyndham Hotel's Crystal Ballroom. This location can host over 150 attendees in comfort during dinner and the presentations.

In addition to mingling with DCS power users, attendees can enjoy a hot catered meal, have their DCS software updated, participate in raffle drawings for free DCS WIU WiFi Interface Units and select freight cars, purchase discounted WIU modules and listen to a brief presentation by M.T.H. executives on the state of DCS and new technology developments coming down the track.

2017 Volume 2 O Gauge Catalog York TCA Meet Pickup

April 5, 2017 - M.T.H. mailing list subscribers and M.T.H. Railroaders Club members (MTHRRC) attending the 2017 Spring TCA York Meet in York, Pennsylvania train meet can avoid the wait for the U.S. Postal Service by picking up the 2017 Volume 2 Premier & RailKing catalog and a selection of other M.T.H. previously printed materials beginning Thursday, April 27th at 12:00 noon.

Other show attendees who wish to pickup our latest catalog can also do so at the show by subscribing to our mailing list.

To simplify the pickup process for any of our catalogs at the show, we've included an online form that readers can print out and fill out prior to coming to the show. Bring the completed form and we will be able to process you faster through our catalog pickup line.

New DCS Version 6.0 Software Available For Download

April 18, 2017 - The latest version of the software used in the DCS system is now available for download. The download is FREE and includes new DCS Hardware Software (Version 6.00) that allows the TIU to control Lionel Legacy locomotive features when the TIU is paired with the DCS WIU WiFi Interface Unit. Both the DCS Remote and TIU Track Interface Unit should be updated with the new software however, once updated the Remote will NOT have Legacy function control. Legacy control is only available when DCS is controlled via the DCS Premium App.

The new DCS Software allows the user to control the TIU from the DCS iOS and Android Premium App available from the Google Play and Apple iTunes online stores. App control of DCS also requires the separately sold DCS Wi-Fi Interface Unit (WIU).

App control of the DCS hardware is NOT possible unless the TIU has been updated with DCS Software Version 5.00 or later. Users updating their app to the Premium version MUST use DCS 6.00 software in order to enjoy all the features found in the Premium app. The new DCS Consumer Loader Program (Version 5.0) must be used to reprogram the TIU. Older versions of the DCS Loader Program are incapable of making some firmware changes to the TIU that allow the TIU to interface with the Wi-Fi Interface Unit.
