G-5 4-6-0 Steam Locomotive  - When the first G5s rolled out of the Juniata shops in 1923, the Pennsylvania Railroad hadn't built a 4-6-0 in more than two decades. The reigning queens of mainline passenger service were high-speed E6s Atlantics and K4s Pacifics; lesser duties like commuter runs were delegated to hand-me-down locomotives serving out their last years before retirement. In the early 1920s, however, the need for secondary passenger power outstripped the supply, and the Pennsy found itself in need of a new commuter engine. continue reading 4-6-4 Royal Hudson Steam Locomotive  - In 1939 King George VI, accompanied by his wife Queen Elizabeth, became the first reigning British monarch to visit Canada. For 31 days Their Majesties toured their Canadian Dominion from coast to coast in a 12-car train described by the Canadian Pacific as "regal in appearance, luxurious in interior decorations and appointments," and "in every way a home and a castle."

Auxilary Water Tender - The Norfolk and Western Railway was a coal-hauling line of modest extent, with most of its trackage in three states: Virginia, West Virginia, and Ohio. Yet among railfans and modelers, the N&W has achieved recognition far out of proportion to its size. One reason was the N&W's loyalty to steam. Modern reproductions aside, the last steam locomotives made in the United States were built in the N&W's Roanoke shops, and as late as 1955 there was not a single diesel on the property.                   continue reading EMD GP38-2 Diesel Locomotive  - Produced from 1972 to 1986, the GP38-2 helped inaugurate Electro-Motive's "Dash-2" series of locomotives and became one of EMD's all-time best sellers. With over 2200 engines sold throughout North America, rare was the railroad that did not roster these reliable, second-generation EMD workhorses.

50' High Cube Box Car - With an interior height of about 13 feet — 2 feet more than a standard box car — this car is known as a "hi-roof" or "high cube" car for its high cubic capacity. White end panels make railroad crews aware of its extra height, which prevents it from traveling in some areas.                   continue reading 50' Ps-1 Double Door Box Car  - Pullman had been making freight cars for more than half a century when it hit a home run with the PS-1 box car. Introduced in 1947, it set the standard for post-WWII American freight cars. What made the PS-1 a landmark was its welded construction — an area in which Pullman-Standard led the industry. In addition to lighter weight, welding offered superior strength and better resistance to weather and corrosion than contemporary rived cars.

70-ton 3-Bay Hopper Car - Unlike equipment that carried a variety of loads, like boxcars, flatcars, and gondolas, this 3-bay hopper was designed specifically for one cargo: bituminous coal. Its capacity matched the volume of coal that a pair of typical 70-ton freight trucks could carry. And its slope sheets — the angled floors at either end of the car — were set at precisely the angle at which coal would flow easily from its bottom doors.                   continue reading Gondola Car w/Cover  - MTH Premier O Scale freight cars are the perfect complement to any manufacturer's scale proportioned O Gauge locomotives. Whether you prefer to purchase cars separately or assemble a unit train, MTH Premier Rolling Stock has the cars for you in a variety of car types and paint schemes.
