Monthly 2017 Vol. 1 Catalog Premier Spotlight

February 15, 2017 - Each month throughout the year, M.T.H. will be spotlighting various items from our 2017 O Gauge Volume 1 catalog.  This week's feature will focus on the Premier O Scale EMD P42 Genesis Diesel Locomotive, New York Central L-3 and L-4 Mohawk Steam Locomotive and select Premier Freight Cars including the O Scale 34' Composite Hopper Cars & 6-Car sets, Flat Car w/40' Trailer and Flat Car with Tank and Freight Containers.  Each of these items are currently slated to begin delivering in April 2017.

NYC Mohawk Steam Locomotive - By the early 1930s, the NYC relied on two locomotives for premier services: the 4-6-4 Hudson for its Great Steel Fleet of passenger trains and the nation's largest stable of 4-8-2s for fast freight. Although the 4-8-2 was labeled a Mountain on any other railroad, that would hardly do on the Water Level Route, so the Central named its engines Mohawks after one of the rivers its rails followed.                                                                           continue reading

EMD P42 Diesel Locomotive  - Amtrak's Genesis was the first newly designed American passenger diesel in nearly four decades. Beginning in 1993, it replaced Amtrak's fleet of EMD F40PH diesels, which were really modified freight engines — designed to be resellable in case Amtrak went out of business. continue reading 34' Composite Hopper Car and 6-Car Sets - Each car in these sets is individually numbered for authentic realism. 2015 Virginia Train Collectors Uncataloged O Gauge Car Now Available

February 15, 2017 - M.T.H. Electric Trains has been producing uncataloged O Gauge cars for the Virginia Train Collectors club for several years. The latest offering in the VTC car series promotes the VTC's 40th anniversary in a Premier Line O Scale 50' Double Door Box Car in Chesapeake & Ohio livery. This handsome, one of a kind car is adorned in a stunning all-black finish with white graphics. Sporting car number 7616 for the VTC, the pad printed graphics include the club logo. Only 72 of these cars have been produced and are offered on a first come, first served basis. Don't miss out on this beautiful car – send in your order today!

Win a Premier or RailKing Locomotive in the RailTown Kitbashing Contest

February 15, 2017 - Get your creative juices flowing this winter! Build an O Gauge structure or scene using at least two walls from any RailTown building, plus any other model structures or materials you like, and you could win a Premier or RailKing locomotive of your choice, up to a retail value of $500.

Entries will be judged on architectural attractiveness, build quality, and above all creativity, both in design and use of materials. Designs may be realistic or whimsical and can range from a recognizable RailTown building with added details to an extreme kitbash using some RailTown elements.

Design the Blue Comet Award Train — and Compete for the 2017 Award

February 15, 2017 - As announced in our latest O Gauge catalog, we're bringing back the Blue Comet Award — our annual award to the person or organization who does the most to promote the O Gauge hobby to the general public — for its sixth season, and introducing a new tradition: a Blue Comet Award Train that the winner will operate for one year, before passing it on to the next year's winner.

We're also holding a contest to design the paint scheme for the Blue Comet engine, a RailKing ES44AC GEVO hybrid diesel with flashing charging lights, and the caboose. Each year's Blue Comet Award winner will also receive their own personalized award boxcar.

M.T.H. Electric Trains has published its first smartphone and tablet app for controlling a DCS layout wirelessly to the Apple App Store and Google Play stores.

The App provides access to the M.T.H. website allowing visitors to quickly find the latest news, search for products, watch product videos and much, much more.

The app can also control a DCS layout from any smartphone or tablet when paired with a DCS Wi-Fi Interface Unit and DCS Track Interface Unit. Both iOS and Android versions are FREE with an option for in-app purchase upgrades.
