September 10, 2025 - M.T.H. Electric Trains has released the latest DCS Wi-Fi Interface Unit (WTIU) firmware for owners of the DCS WTIU (Item No. 50-1039). This latest firmware allows for connectivity to Lionel command control hardware to allow DCS control of Lionel and Atlas locomotives in command mode. The download includes the following updates and improvements:
- Support for the WTIU - Lionel Base3 Connectivity
- Support for the WTIU - Lionel Legacy Command Base Connectivity
- Fix Clickety-Clack, Cab Chatter, and Marker Light Control
- Fix WTIU Version Cmd
Learn about this FREE WTIU-Only download by going HERE. This firmware is only available for the WTIU. Owners of older TIUs should NOT use this firmware in their devices.
Once downloaded, users will need to install the update via the MTH DCS Luci web interface. The interface is easy to use and guides the user through the update process. Users can find the Luci interface HERE.
NOTE: This WTIU firmware update is ONLY for WTIU hardware and should NOT be installed on older TIU hardware.
In order to control Lionel TMCC and Legacy equipped models using the DCS WTIU, users will need to connect the hardware by following the diagrams found on the DCS Home Page. Once there, users will find two options to connect the WTIU to the Lionel Base3; a diagram to connect the WTIU to the Lionel Legacy Command Base; and a diagram to connect the WTIU to the Lionel TMCC Command Base. Each of these diagrams lists all of the components and cables needed for connections.

M.T.H. Electric Trains will be releasing RailKing 4-6-0 Steam Locomotives and matching 3-car Overton Passenger Car Sets in six different roadnames next winter. Each item will be limited in production and expected to begin shipping to M.T.H. Authorized Retailers in January 2026.
