Special Announcement: SD70ACe George H.W. Bush Diesel Locomotive Returning In 2019

December 11, 2018 - On November 30th 2018, the 41st president of the United States, George H.W. Bush, took his last train ride in a special funeral train pulled by Union Pacific 4141 SD70ACe and accompanying 9096 SD70ACe to the his final resting place at the George H.W. Bush Library in College Station, Texas.

Since that funeral train rolled, the first such train since 1969, M.T.H. has received countless requests for the return of 4141 to the M.T.H. lineup.

Beginning in 2019, M.T.H. will release 4141 and 9096 locomotives in four different iterations: RailKing O Gauge; Premier O Scale; HO Scale; and an all-new RailKing One Gauge model. In addition to the locomotives, a specially decorated baggage car - emulating the deco on the funeral car used in President Bush's train - will also be produced to complement the RailKing O Gauge and Premier O Scale locomotives.

Monthly 2019 Vol. 1 Catalog Premier Spotlight

December 11, 2018 - Each month throughout the year, M.T.H. will be spotlighting various items from our 2019 O Gauge Volume 1 catalog.  This month's feature will focus on the Premier O Scale Alco RS-11 Diesel Locomotive; EMD GP-9 Diesel Locomotive; GE Dash-9 Diesel Locomotive; and select Premier Freight Cars including the O Scale 50' Box Car; Hot Metal Car w/Flickering Molten Load; and the 3-Bay Centerflow Hopper.  Each of these items is currently slated to begin delivering in February 2019.

Alco RS-11 Diesel Locomotive - The RS-11 was Alco’s answer to the hugely popular Electro-Motive Geep. Alco had, after all, invented the road switcher: a multipurpose engine with great visibility fore and aft, capable of anything from slow-speed switching to full-throttle mainline hauling.     continue reading EMD GP-9 Diesel Locomotive - Electro-Motive Division's GP (for "General Purpose") engines were the brainchild of project engineer Dick Dilworth who saw that America's 30,000 miles of main line rail had been virtually dieselized, but the 130,000 miles of secondary lines were still largely steam powered.  continue reading

GE Dash-9 Diesel Locomotive - For the first six decades of the diesel era, the main goal of locomotive design was higher horsepower. Introduced in 1993, GE’s 4400 hp Dash 9 and its AC-motored sibling, the AC4400CW, were three times as powerful as a typical first-generation diesel and had 10% more horsepower than their immediate predecessor, the Dash 8.

50' Box Car - Our 50’ box car is modeled on the fleet of cars originally built for Railbox service in the 1970s and early 1980s. Formed in 1974 as a subsidiary of Trailer Train Company (now TTX Company), Railbox did for box cars what Trailer Train had done earlier for piggybacking: established a pool of cars that could be used by all member railroads.           continue reading

Hot Metal Car - This well-detailed Hot Metal Car features a flickering hot molten load inside the car’s barrel that realistically simulates a freshily loaded batch of molten metal from the foundry. The car operates on any O gauge track system powered by any AC or DC transformer.

3-Bay Centerflow Hopper - Although covered hoppers had achieved widespread use by the 1950s, it wasn’t until the following decade that they began to carry North America’s grain harvest. Prior to the 1960s, U.S. and Canadian farmers sent their wheat and other grains to market in 40’ box cars.

Are You Stocking The DCS Companion Books In Your Store?

December 11, 2018 - Now is a great time to consider stocking or re-stocking copies of the DCS Companion book for resale in your store. At the present time, there are two different DCS books available - The DCS Companion 3rd Edition and The DCS WiFi Companion 2nd Edition.

The first book addresses the use of DCS using a DCS Remote, DCS Commander or DCS Remote Commander, while the second book discusses complete control of DCS using WiFi. This includes using the DCS App in its Basic, Standard and Premium versions to communicate with MTH WiFi devices, the Wireless Interface Unit (WIU) and the DCS Explorer. Although both books provide a complete discussion of DCS itself, one book or the other is more appropriate depending upon how your customers operate their trains.

Both books are being offered to M.T.H. Authorized Retailers at a discount from the book’s MSRP of $34.95 at a dealer-only price of $25.57/copy, shipping included. The minimum order is a total of 6 copies of both books combined. Books can only be ordered at wholesale pricing directly from the author, Barry Broskowitz. Wholesale pricing is not available directly through M.T.H. Electric Trains. Please do NOT contact the M.T.H. Sales Department to order.

Authorized Retailers interested in reselling either of the DCS books should Email the order quantity in order to receive an E-mail invoice for your purchase. As soon as payment is received, an order for books to be shipped directly to your store will be placed. Authorized Retailers should expect the books to arrive within approximately 14 days from date of order.
